MUKTINATH
Muktinath is a sacred place for Hindus located in Muktinath Valley at an altitude of 3,710 meters at the foot of the Thorong La mountain pass (part of the Himalayas), Mustang district, Nepal.
Muktinath is also referred as Mukti Kshetra, which literally means the “place of salvation”.
Muktinath is considered one of the eight most sacred shrines for Hindu Vaishnavas known as Svayam Vyakta Kshetras, the other seven being Srirangam, Srimushnam, Tirupati, Naimisharanya, Totadri, Pushkar and Badrinath. The temple is very small. Muktinath is one of the most ancient Hindu temples of Lord Vishnu. The murti is of gold and is tall enough to compare with a man. The prakaram has 108 bull faces through which water is poured. The sacred water that flows in 108 bull faces around the temple complex denote all sacred Pushkarini waters (Temple Tanks) from all 108 Vaishnava Kshetras including Srirangam, Tirumala, Vaikunta, where the devotees take their sacred bath even in the freezing temperatures. The worship is conducted by Buddhist nuns.The scripts narrating the importance of this temple is available in Vishnu Purana with in Gandaki Mahathmya.
This is the only place on earth where you can find all five elements from which everything is made, fire, water, sky, earth and air at the same place together in their own and distinct form. This place is near Jwala Devi temple.
Damodar Kund – "AN ULTIMATE JOURNEY TO VALLEY OF THE SALVATION"
Many Hindus from round the globe are dreaming to take a holy bath at least once in their life time in the sacred Damodar-Kund, situated at the altitude of 5400 meters lap of high Himalayas in Upper Mustang on the north east of Mustang District , Nepal .
Firstly, while describing Varah Puran has narrated the Domodar Kund, River Kaligandaki can’t be left untouched. River Kaligandaki has its source in Damodar Kund and throughout its flow to south right up to Indian border carries a manifestation of lying lord Vishnu with Damodarkund jeweled as His auspicious Head and with Muktinath as the mouth, Shaligram Chakra as chest Ru Ru Kshetra of Palpa district as the waist, Devaghatam as the Knee and lastly the auspicious feet of lord Vishnu goes to the credit of Gajendra Moksha devadham, Nawal Parasi.
Secondly, Varaha Purana has narrated Damodar kund’s religious significance; Lord Krishna has said that who pays a visit to this Kunda and takes a deep-bath, they will be freed from all the sins. It is also mentioned in Puran that two sons of Kubers were suffering from their wrongdoing & sin, which they did in their previous birth but lord Krishna suggested them to take bath in this Kunda and immediately after taking bath in this Kunda they were released from all their sin and attained their celestial abode.
Kagbeni
Kagbeni means literally" bolt at the two rivers" Kagbeni is situated in the valley of the Kali Gandaki, 2900 m. altitude. Pilgrims perform Shraddha to their ancestors at this confluence of Kag khola and River Kali Gandaki believing that it brings salvation to ancestors.
